A HUGE congratulations to Louis Nel (Form 3) who was announced the overall winner of the Atterbury National Piano Competition at the final evening on Friday night! Louis was awarded the following prizes:
A Gert Becker Family Trust prize for making it to the final round of the competition
The Joseph Stanford prize for the best performance of a Baroque work
The Stephen Allen prize for the best performance of a Romantic work
The Willie de Jager prize for the best performance of a Modern work
The Optiphi prize for winning the 19 & under category
The Hennie Joubert prize of R5000 plus the Valumax prize of R30 000 for being the overall winner

Furthermore, Louis won the following trophies at the recent AKV Eisteddfod:

Best Performance: Bach
Best Achievement: Beethoven
Best Performance: Classical 14-18 years
Best Achievement: Russian Composers
Best Achievement: Concerto
Best Performance: 20th/21st Century
Best Sight-Reader
Best Achievement: Recital 14-18 years
Best Achievement: Grade 8 Music
Outstanding Technique - 13 years and older
Best Achievement: 16 years and under
Best Achievement: 14-18 years
Winner: Senior Piano Section
A trophy as well as the Hennie Joubert Bursary: Overall Winner of the Piano Section
Overall Winner: Instrumental Section
