Senior boys are able to take Athletics as a Summer sport.  Currently we have 30 boys taking Athletics in the 1st term.  These are our top-end athletes who want to compete in the “traditional” athletics season, which is in January and February.  Boys train at St Alban’s College and compete at meetings hosted by Northerns Athletics, usually held at Pilditch Stadium.  Mr Yaw Fosu-Amoah our Master-in-Charge of Athletics, wants to compete in more inter-schools meetings during this time period.

The aim of summer athletics is to give our top athlete accreditation in the eyes of Northerns Athletics, in that our boys are competing against the best and are able to challenge for Provincial colours.  The “traditional” English Boys’ School Athletics season is in August and September, culminating in the Inter-High meet in mid-September.  An Independent Schools’ team is chosen after the Independent Schools’ meet, held before the Inter-High meet, and this team did very well this year.  This gives our top athlete another opportunity to compete against our traditional rivals.
